Our Busy August 2012

Our busy August. Wow

August 4th We had a Truck Pull in Spanish Fork. Ken and Scobie had great pulls and won their division. It was a long night, we hit the pillow at 1am. I'm so glad we took our trailer to Spanish Fork.

  August 9th

Look who Turned 50 .. That would be Wayne and he was not a Happy Camper. He didn't want to celebrate the " Big 50". I invited family and gave out Reese's and Hawaiian Punch his 2 favorite snacks. It was a fun night.

I found this over the hill hat  and I couldn't resist. He was a sport and wore it as all the family came over.

I keep asking Wayne what he wanted for his birthday and he kept saying," We are going to go buy a new Trailer". I was like yeah right??? So we went to breakfast on his Birthday and then we made our way to Blaine Jensen's RV and this is his 50th Birthday Present. We bought a 2012 36 ft Montana 5th wheel. She has all the bells and whistles too. I think this is going to be our Dream Trailer.

August 11th We headed to Montpiler Idaho for a Truck Pull. We took the new trailer. The view of Bear Lake. I love to see the Blue water and all the sailboats.

Ken was beat by 1 inch. One stinking inch. It is such a strong compitation. All of the guys in his class were there 6 guys to pull. He took 2nd but Man we wished it was 1st place.

We went to the Oregon Trail Museum on our drive home. It was so fun and interactive.

Our guide Dave was great, he took us back in time to 1852. Where people left Independence Mo to go to Oregon and acquire land from the government. It would cost a family $1200.00 for 5 months to travel all that way. This would be 5 years of wages just to travel for a chance to have 320 acres of land.  They would purchase a wagon for $100.00.

This would be all of their stuff they would try to cram tight into their wagons.

The would go to general stores and buy things that they could barter with the Indians. One thing would be "bright" colored fabrics. They loved that red fabric.

I loved all the bottles and the story's of the trails and trials they had.

They would make camp every night and have a huge dinner. Rest and then start the hard travels the next day.

One of the family's on the trail would spend time quilting and weaving. They would have lots of death and that was on way they could honor their loved ones, was to wrap their bodies in a homemade quilt.

They were so strong  had alot of determination to make it to Oregon.

 Oregon or Bust

 I loved this saying

Look at all of these beautiful Quilts

 Quilts I wanted them all.

Dubb checking out the Sasquitch stuff. Can you imagine seeing Big Foot?

Big Foot

I would totally freak out if I saw Big Foot.

I love all the crazy quilts, they had a quilt was was made from the 1900's.

They choose Oxen to travel with, because it was the only animal that the Indians would not steal from them. They felt like they were too slow and stubborn.

The Big M on the mountain. I would love to go back and see more of the great state of Idaho.

We have lots more on the agenda for August. I will keep you updated.
