Life after 50 ....

Life after 50. Hubby gets to have the dreaded colonoscopy.

He was such the trooper he took the prep like a pro. I have to say I was scared that when he saw this huge jug he would back out. But he didn't. You hear all the horror story's about the prep. I think for him it was drinking all this and "nothing" happened for a long time, like 5 hours of waiting for the "run" to the bathroom kicked in. His poor tummy was so bloated and he just laid on the couch and groaned. He was starving because you have to not eat any solid food for the day before the prep. You just drink this "nasty" stuff so he called it. The morning of the procedure he was calm and ready. We got to the hospital and it was a quick procedure 30 minutes and he was done. Heck I didn't have time to be bored in the waiting room. Then it was off to the recovery room. As I walked in I'm always a little leery at what you will see in recovery. He was laying there and I walked up and he sat straight up in the bed and said, "Where am I"? I told him he was in recovery. Then he said, "How did I get here'? He was so funny and I was trying not to laugh out loud. They Nurse came in and told him he needed to pass gas before he goes home. After the Nurse left the room. He said " I can't FART or I will POOP in the bed he was so loud and I was so embarrassed. But lucky everything was OK and he dodged the bullet without any accidents. WHEW !!!. I can hardly wait for My Colonoscopy when I turn 50.

Saying Good Bye to a Neighbor

 Last night we said good bye to a AWESOME neighbor.

Cheryl Hartley Bingham Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 17, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Cheryl was born January 16, 1952, in Nyssa, Oregon to John Alma and Nina Randall Hartley. She grew up in Ontario, Oregon, Rupert, Idaho, and Clearfield, Utah. She graduated as Valedictorian from Clearfield High School in 1970 and continued her education at LDS Business College.  Cheryl met the love of her life at a backyard picnic and married Bruce J. Bingham in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 24, 1972. They built their life together in North Ogden, raising four children there while contributing to the local community. She was dutifully employed for over 29 years at America First Credit Union, including 8 years as manager of the branch at Lee's Marketplace in North Ogden. Cheryl was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, finding great joy in each new opportunity to serve. She received many honors in her education and career; however, her greatest source of pride was her family. She loved to spend time with them traveling, camping, and playing games. She found pleasure in reading and enjoying the beauty of nature. Cheryl will be remembered for her gentle kindness, keen mind, strong work ethic, and lifelong service to others. She is survived by her husband, Bruce. Children: Darren (Jayne) Bingham, Mark (Kami) Bingham, Rachelle (Mason) Meyer, Blake (Desteny) Bingham. Siblings: Coleen (Jay) Gittins, Shana (Rex) Child, Carilee (Lynn) Braegger and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lamar and Terry Hartley. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to the staff of IHC Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 23 at 11a.m. at the North Ogden 19th Ward, 1791 N 600 E. A viewing for family and friends will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd. and Friday, at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.

 Cheryl was a sweet lady, she was always willing to help a neighbor out in need.She was the Rock of her family. She would give you a friendly wave every time we passed her home. Her Husband Bruce Baptized me into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Their family will always hold a special place in my heart. When we rode our horses to the house from Jr Possee we would give her kids all horseback rides. Cheryl made the BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies too. But I remember one time I was sick from school and My Mom called Cheryl and asked if she could pick me up. Cheryl was so kind and picked me up. I was  throwing up and even threw up in her car, she was just patted by back and said it would be OK. That's what you call a true Angel.  We Love and will miss you Cheryl.

Back on the Wagon

Well yes I'm back on the Weight loss Wagon once again. I had my yearly Physical and boy was I  shocked to step on the "Doctor's" scale. Why is it that "his" scale you always weigh so much more?

So I'm trying to be healthy I know I need to do this for a healthy life, but geez it's so hard. I can't say I LOVE to exercise. I know I need to so do this exercise thing. So that's really been my focused to commit to at least 3 times a week. So fair I have been able to do this. I hope to add more exercise into my life but for now 3 days have really been manageable for my busy life. I'm trying to eat less and make better food choices. I'm sure this is something that I will have to battle the rest of my life. But with small changes I think I can do hard things.......right?? 

So far I'm down 5 lbs. It seems like NO BIG DEAL 5 lbs. But at least I didn't gain 5. That what I have to keep in mind. It's a life style change not a diet.

Getting "Dirty"

All I have heard lately is you have to try a "Dirty Diet Coke"

I'm not a person who likes to mess with a "Diet Coke" a little lemon while I'm at a restaurant is all this gal will do.........UNTIL I tried a "Dirty Diet Coke" let me say I think I'm in LOVE. It was like a tropical escape. I loved the coconut syrup and the YUMMY Fresh lime. All I'm going to say is "GET DIRTY" and try a "DIRTY DIET COKE !!!!

15 years ..... Can it really be?

Can it really be 15 years since I said goodbye to My Mom.

Heaven received a awesome lady 15 years ago today. At times it feels like a lifetime since I was able to have that last visit with her, but on the other hand it feels like it was just yesterday.

I have so many great memories of My Mom. She taught me so much. The things I treasure the most are the love of Cooking, shopping until you drop and giggling until your tummy hurts.

I miss and love you Mom.

My only hope and wish is to see her again.
